100% of our calorie intake comes from food so cutting on food or calorie intake is sufficient to make us lose weight. This is evident on pregnant women experiencing morning sickness where they lose appetite and vomit allot and losing a lot of weight is common.

However, cutting on food intake to lose weight does not necessarily mean it's an healthy approach to lose weight. Consider adding exercise.
